Solid shapes!

Making Solid Shapes!

Kindergarten students are working with shapes during Math class. They have explored characteristics of flat and solid shapes. They have been learning about their size, amount of faces, edges and corners. Children have also enjoyed comparing and matching real life objects to solid shapes.

A strong understanding of shapes and geometry will help students to better recognize numbers and how they look, to better recognize letters and how they are formed. When children practice with different kinds of lines to make shapes they can translate this into their writing.

Today we encouraged them to build their favorite solid shapes using clay and toothpicks.
These are the results!
